The Wedding Hookers – Part I

At 28, it is a bit odd to live with title of being single when you have done it all – flirting, dating, relationships, flings and erotic escapades – needless to say multiple times. But life and women are unpredictable enough to land the most desirable men in this state. The protagonists here are not different and two of us were already in relationships.

It was Prakriti’s marriage in Kota, Rajasthan, India – a city famous for coaching centers for engineering and medical aspirants. Chaanak reached Kota one day before the marriage on 08th May to attend the Sangeet ceremony while Dhruv, Sameer and Palash reached on 9th May to complete the quartet. The quartet and Prakriti have been close college friends and have maintained their friendship mostly on WhatsApp and occasional meet-up.

The Marwari wedding was on full swing and as the case with most of these weddings, they had eaten full day’s meals in a single meal 3 times in the day and dinner was yet to be served. They had already eaten 50 different dishes in a day and were eyeing for a world record in Guinness book if any such record existed actually. Prakriti spent most of her time getting ready for the various ceremonies which only few understand. She met them for a brief period for a little good-bye session.

Lately, the quartet have been to so many marriages that it had became a mundane customary wedding fun and this marriage was no different even though it as their friend’s marriage. After the baarat arrived and the customary puja followed, they decided to explore the culinary treats on offer. As they entered the reception area, the scene and mood alike had changed to aromatic and the smell of the great Indian masalas. It was decided to explore the cuisines on offer and then pick and choose the best for the appetite. A quick suggestion – In Marwari weddings, always survey all food items before you start the meal. You should always pick and choose as you are not likely be able to taste all the cuisines. The men were wedding-smart and did their survey and zeroed in our key feasting points and stomach management strategy for the occasion.

Character Background

Palash, The Protagonist – Suave, broody male with super charged hormones consisting of a mixture of good looks, attitude, intelligence, traveler, adventurer and lady-killer (you know what I mean)

Chaanak, The Story Teller – Omlette-Pav Entrepreneur, intellectual adventurer, social experimenter and commentator, globe trooper and the villain (in some ways, actually in many ways)

Dhruv, The Mohabbat Man – Royal Bengal Tiger or tigers. Smart, funny, every woman’s crisis man and has always been in love since you might have known him.

Sameer, The Horny Gene – Bengali by genes, sober and decent in looks, committed in relationship and leaves stains everywhere he lives (Don’t ask what does that mean).

As they were feasting, they gave liberty to our hormones to wander and look for the hottest chick around. WARNING! They were looking around for the admiration of wonderful creation of the god. They wandered from neighborhood of Chaatasthan to Chinesepuri to Sweetsvilla to Punjab City. They noticed a few woman among the guests and also one the groom’s friend who were categorized in attractive list but none of them could hold their attention for long. Unanimously, the blame was put on small towns and their conservative culture and primary culprit Prakriti for not introducing us to her hot and desirable friends.

“Hey, I think these woman are from some event management firm employed to take care of the guest.” retorted Chaanak after their attention was caught by young woman in purple western dresses. They were around 15 in number and most them were good enough to have one long stare. The quartet’s attention had been taken and they were plenty of birds to get them engaged throughout the night. Now that the staring was over, it was time to find out the best woman among the lot. As with most men of their age, the 1st round of Hotness Quotient Ratings started. While they had a look at all woman, they had a look at a short, attractive and alarming woman just behind the Rotipur. The woman had already given ugly looks to them that the decision to rate her was ignored.

It was the table where the plates were laid for the guests and the Salad Nagar was in the neighborhood when Palash’s attention was taken by a homo sapiens of the opposite sex. The blood in his cells had gone from calm to energized state and the collision was evident with arteries anytime. He wasted to not time to inform the gang. “Ahaaan”, was a sigh of relief among all as they found somebody so engaging.

Stay Tuned for Part II of the story……

  1. Hey Prateek, there are few lines which are beautifully written, specially when talking about food! Character portrayal has been perfectly done. Though I feel the flow of the story could have been better. Overall, a good read definitely.

Waiting to see, why is this incident so important 😉
